Army confirms death of Attahiru as list of those in crashed plane emerges

The Nigerian Army late Friday evening confirmed the death  its Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru.
Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima , Director Army Public Relations in a statement said  “The sad event occurred following an air crash in Kaduna which also claimed the lives of 10 other officers including the crew.
“The COAS was enroute Kaduna from Abuja on Friday, 21 May, 2021 when the unfortunate incident happened.
“Details of the sad incident and burial arrangements will be communicated soon.”
The 10 other people in the crashed plane, according to The Shield Online findings, are Brigadier-General M.I. Abdulkadir, Brigadier-General Olayinka and Brigadier-General Abdulrahman Kuliya. Others in the army chief’s entourage are Major L.A. Hayat, Major Hamza and Sergeant Umar.
The crew members are Flight-Liuetenant T.O. Asaniyi, Flight-Liuetenant A.A. Olufade, Sergeant Adesina and ACM Oyedepo.
